Barrel of Monkeys
I worked on a boat
We brought things from place to place
One day a barrel arrived
But it took up too much space
Nobody knew who's it was
Nobody knew what's inside
A big wooden barrel making noise
With "WARNING" written on the side
So we had to open it up
We had to look inside
Some of the crew were scared
They had to run and hide
Nobody knew what it was
Inside the mystery barrel
Nobody knew what it was
That put us into peril
Chorus:
It was a barrel of monkeys
They jumped out and swung all over the deck
That barrel of monkeys
What a pain in the neck
The Captain got so mad
With monkeys all over the place
He yelled "get those monkeys outta here!"
Then a monkey jumped on his face
The Chef was getting scared
He said "Keep those monkeys away
If they get into the food
Then we don't eat today!"
Chorus
The ship was crazy now
With monkeys everywhere
Monkeys in the sails
And in the Captain's chair
It was a hopeless case
Abandon ship, we did
I wish we'd never opened
The monkey barrel lid
Chorus
So the monkeys did okay
They kept the ship afloat
Now you can take a cruise
On the Monkey Boat
Monkey Cruise business is good
They take you to the Bahamas
As long as you don't mind the noise (and the smell)
And you pay them with bananas
Chorus
