My Pet Dragon: Behind the Scenes

What it says inside Sticky Situations about My Pet Dragon:

I'm not sure where the idea for this song came from other than I know that around the world, kids think dragons are kind of cool. Sort of like dinosaurs but fire-breathing! Can you get cooler than that?

When I wrote the words, it used to say "he helps with the cooking...he helps get things off the roof", but after singing it, one very clever kid pointed out that if the house burned down (as mentioned in the first verse), how could he get things off the roof? Good point. So the lyrics changed to what you now hear as "He helped with the cooking by breathing fire. He helped get things off the roof"

Trivia: The screamer heard after the line "people run in all directions" is my wife Virpi. She sings on many of the songs but I think this is her only scream.

More Trivia: Take a look at the dragon on the cover of the CD. I intentionally put a dog collar on him because, after all, he's my PET dragon. He doesn't seem to like the Farmer in Armor much. In most books I've read, dragons aren't too fond of knights in suits of armor.
